In our grand tradition, we had our Ladies’ Tea today. The theme was “Go Green” and we all bought “green” gifts. I made a purse out of an old shirt and scraps, so it was “recycled!” A lovely time was had by all.

Today Jack “cashed in” on his birthday present – a day with me! We took a trip to Barnes & Noble, where I got him five books and then we headed to Brooklyn Botanic Garden to meet mom for lunch. The day ended after meeting up with Willa again and watching Jack play with one of his other birthday presents – one that baffled us. It seemed to be a foam spray that you used to decorate the sidewalk, but it didn’t work quite the way any of us thought it would.
Highlights of the Day:
Jack at the Botanic Garden, trying out his new frog toy.
The butterfly that was landing on all the flowers.
Jack waiting patiently – and excitedly! – while Willa sets up the new toy!
Jack and his new toy.
The strange foam markings.

Dad had some tickets to an All-Star Cyclones Game so a bunch of family and friends headed out to Keyspan Park to enjoy the game, the fireworks and, of course, the hot dogs! The game was played by a number of famous current and former football players, as well as Billy Blanks, the creator of Tae-Bo.

This weekend I headed up to Orange County, intending to go to Alexandra’s Graduation Party and then come home. However, I ended up early for the party so I stopped at Carol’s house to kill time and visit with Carol, James and the boys. We headed to the party together, then they suggested I stay overnight rather than drive home, even though they would be at the Green family reunion.
Well, long story short, I ended up AT the Green family reunion a bit, and staying at Carol’s overnight, making a whole weekend of it! Here are some highlights – more will be in the picture gallery shortly!

It’s snowing today! Seriously, no matter how old you get, snow makes you a child again!
Lindsay and I went out to shovel our walk and Willa’s walk and couldn’t resist making a little snowman and playing in the snow a little bit!

Lindsay and the snowman.

Me and the snowman.

The shed after Lindsay and I threw snow at it numerous times. We agreed this is what the shed would likely look like if we kept giant birds in our yard. I suggested more like if we kept pterodactyls.
Now it’s just kind of raining so the snow is either going to ice over or melt, which is disappointing, but it should be gone by Monday for the return to work, which is only good because of how annoying it is to actually drive in the snow.

And to think, we were there last year…
We spent seven fun (and a little stressful!) days in New Orleans last February. These photos are from Mardi Gras day, though the best nights by far were the first night at our first parade and what I believe was the fourth night – it was Monday when Lindsay, Amanda, Michelle and I went to the other parade (I forgot the name!(.
(And no, none of us got beads inappropriately – they really DO just give them to you!)

Lindsay and her chicken!

Me with friends Michelle and Kristi
Though I don’t think I need to go for Mardi Gras again, it’d be fun to get back to New Orleans someday!

Tonight I sang with the school faculty-student chorus, and had a blast! The performances were great and everyone had a nice time. In fact, this post is going up on Saturday instead of Friday because I didn’t get home till after midnight! I’m going to regret that tomorrow, I think, but it was worth it. Pictures will be in the gallery soon – almost momentarily.

On Friday, January 25, 2007, I will be performing in a chorus show at work. All are welcome to attend – tickets are $5 and all the proceeds will go to charity. The show was excellent last year and promises to be great this year as well. Come and see me sing in person – with a little solo again!

Yesterday we celebrated Emily’s birthday (on October 2nd, if you don’t remember the post about it) with a big Sweet 16 party at the Mt. Kisco Holiday Inn. The whole family was there to celebreate, and we had a great night of food and dancing.
To whet your appetite for pictures, here are a few of the centerpieces that were made by Lindsay, Kara, Emily and myself last weekend when we were in Binghamton (mostly my job was to paint everything gold). Each piece was designed by Kara and reflected a different Broadway show.
Wicked
The Phantom of the Opera
Beauty and the Beast
A Chorus Line
Spamalot
Rent
Little Shop of Horrors
Hairspray
I think my favorite part of the evening was before the party started and we were getting ready. I needed to shower, but the bathroom had no towels. Kara said she saw a maid cart in the hall and to poke my head out and ask. When I looked down the hall, I saw a GIANT bag of towels just laying along the wall! Though I didn’t actually take any from that bag, I DID manage to get some from the maid!
